We're back from another successful green trade show. It was a long trip but well worth it! We flew into Fresno, California to pick up our booth. From there we packed it into a U-haul and made the trek across the dessert! You would think there would be nothing to see but there's actually quite a bit. We'll more than driving across the prairies up in our land. We drove past the wind farms of California which were in full operation! It was a windy drive. Very cool. We made it into Phoenix after ten hours of driving guided by our trust GPS unit.
If you've never been to Phoenix, it's one of the cleanest and nicest cities you'll see in North America. Tuesday was set up day and a three hour opener for the exhibits. Greeenbuild 2009 was extremely tech based with many company exhibits showcasing energy solutions.
This was another region to showcase our Engineered Urban Elm flooring. We're finding that our Elm specific to our region has been an eye-catcher with a lot of positive reaction to our engineered floor. Thanks to all that stopped by our booth and hello to all the new friends we made (past and present). You all helped make our trip exciting and a huge success!
We are grearing up for another trek to the USA! Phoenix Arizona will be hosting this years Greenbuild Conference & Expo's theme of Main Street Green. It's always exciting to see the latest industry developments and showcase what Winnipeg has to offer the "Green Builiding world". We'll keep you posted as we get underway. In then mean time visit the Green Build website by clicking on the links below.
Greenbuild 2009 is heading to the American Southwest, a region with unique environmental and social challenges and opportunities, and the imperative is clear: Green building can and must come home to all people, boosting the quality of life on main streets across the country and around the world. http://www.greenbuildexpo.org/Home.aspx
Former Vice President Al Gore will address thousands of Greenbuild attendees at Chase Field, home of the Arizona Diamondbacks, as part of the Greenbuild Opening Keynote & Celebration on the night of Wednesday, Nov. 11.
West Coast Green 2009 San Francisco
Well, a couple of weeks after West Coast Green and we are getting back to normal life! The tradeshow and conference were informative as usual and we met a lot of old friends from the bay area and made some new ones!
We were showcasing our Engineered Urban Elm flooring, which was a huge success! People involved in the green building industry as well as those not involved directly understand what we are trying to accomplish with sustainable products such as this! To have the stability of a engineered floor with the sustainability of a full ¼” (6mm) of solid reclaimed wood and the top surface was an exciting product for many people. Wood Anchor has stayed away from engineered products over the years because we couldn’t figure out why anyone would choose an engineered product when it can’t be refinished down the road. There is no longevity in that.
About a year ago, we partnered with the company that now makes our engineered flooring and discovered that through their years of experience they can produce the kind of sustainable products that we were looking for. These are the kind of wood flooring products that the green building industry has been looking for.
Many people at WCG were excited to find a product like this and we are looking forward to doing even more business in the Bay Area!

I flew from SF to DC to look at the US Department of Energy’s Solar Decathlon, specifically Team California’s Refract House. Wood Anchor has supplied them with Engineered Urban Elm Flooring for their house and solid elm decking for the exterior patio’s and decks. It was exciting to see the great job they did on designing the house and providing solid solutions to the energy crisis. Overall they took 3rd place which is exciting for them and we congratulate them on a long and fruitful journey.
